What is the Housing Fair?

This event is an open house in the Lory Student Center main ballroom that takes place every March. It is an opportunity for students to do one stop shopping for places to live in Fort Collins. The Housing Fair brings together landlords, community resources and Colorado State University offices in order to inform students about housing options and how to successfully live off-campus.

What is the date and time of the Housing Fair?

The Housing Fair will take place on Wednesday March 10th from 9:00am until 4:00pm in the main ballroom of the Lory Student Center at Colorado State University.

What is the theme of this year's Housing Fair?

This year's theme has not yet been announced.  As always, please review the Policies and Guidelines on our website for acceptable displays.

How do I receive registration materials for the Housing Fair?

We will be sending out Housing Fair information in December. If you do not receive the information or you do not believe that you are on our mailing list, please contact our office at (970) 491-2248 or email us at ocss@lamar.colostate.edu to request that material be sent to you. We will need to know your Name, Company, Mailing Address, Phone Number, Fax Number, and E-Mail Address. You may also download a general invitation letter on our Housing Fair website. You may register online by clicking here.

What is the registration fee?

Registration fees are based on the number of table spaces you request starting at $250 for ½ table and $350 for a full table. Special requests may require additional fees. You may register online by clicking here. Registrations are not complete until all fees are paid.

What does the registration fee include?

The registration fee includes your paid table space, 2 chairs, a white tablecloth, 2 parking permits, balloons, a continental breakfast, and a company table sign. Additional chairs may be requested on the day of the fair.  Full table dimensions are 3’x6’; half tables are 3’ x 3’. However, there is space around the table (back and sides) that can be used for a little more display room.

How do I pay for the registration fee?

At the request of past vendor attendees, we have moved to a completely ONLINE REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT PROCESS. Following the completion of your registration, you will be prompted to the online payment portion of the site. Please note: if you leave the registration site without paying by credit card, you will not be registered for the housing fair.  An invoice will be issued to you by email upon your completion of the registration process.  We are excited to unveil our new paperless payment system and hope that you find it both time-saving and convenient.

What other costs are there to the Housing Fair?

There are no other mandatory costs to the Housing Fair. Optional costs include:

  • Internet Access - $35
  • Electricity - no charge
  • Easels - $10
  • Hanging Banner - $20
  • Box Lunches - $10 each
  • HF T-Shirts - $12 each
  • Parking Permits - $5 extra for each additional permit above the two permits included in the registration fee

How will the Housing Fair be publicized to students?

Our advertising committee submits Public Services Announcements on and off campus; sends out a campus-wide email (RamFYI); puts out sign stands with balloons in the Lory Student Center and around campus; sends out posters to campus offices and other approved poster displays; and hangs large banners outside of the Clark building and in the Lory Student Center where over 10,000 people enter each day. We put ads in the student newspaper (The Rocky Mountain Collegian) several weeks before and leading up to the Housing Fair. We also have "moving off campus" displays on all 123 residence hall floors which highlight the Housing Fair. We advertise on our website in several locations, on the main CSU web page, on the plasma television run by Campus Information, and the University Calendar called WhatsUp! (whatsup.colostate.edu). The week of the Fair, our office puts out a special addition "Guide to Living Off Campus" in the Collegian, focusing on the Housing Fair, options available to students and helpful information. All vendors will be contacted by Collegian staff prior to the Housing Fair for advertising space availability within this very popular guide.

How many students attend the Housing Fair?

In the last five years, we have ranged from 2200-2800 people attending the Fair.

  • What if I want my banner hung for the Housing Fair?

If you have paid for a banner to be hung, your banner must be delivered to our office no later than 5:00p.m. on the banner hanging deadline (TBA). Any banners received after that date will NOT be hung and refunds will NOT be given. Banner will be hung as close to your table as possible. Please read the Policies and Guidelines for more information.

When can I begin setting up for the Housing Fair?

There is an early set-up time the day before the Housing Fair on Tuesday, March 9th from 3:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. You may also come and set-up the morning of the Housing Fair beginning at 7:30a.m.

I want to provide FOOD at my booth.  What do I need to do to make this happen?

Packaged and individually wrapped goods are no problem, however, if you are bringing anything which is not individually packaged (including mints, bite-size brownies, M&Ms, cookies, hot dogs, popcorn, etc.) please contact Nancy Rhodes or Jeannie Ortega at (970)491-2248.  We would be happy to work with you to navigate CSU's health code related to preparing and serving food on campus!
