Join the Community: Meet a Neighbor
Meeting your neighbors is the first step towards joining the community. Being a good neighbor is the second step. Find out if you are a good neighbor by taking our Good Neighbor Quiz.
Suggestions:
1. Neighbor Contacts - Consider meeting your neighbors and providing some background information. Let them know your occupation, name, major, etc. This lets neighbors see you as a person instead of just "another student." Get to know them; ask about their experience in Fort Collins and what expectations they have for the community. *If throwing a party, consider posting neighbor notices, available at the OCL, on your neighbors' doors, letting them know you are having a party.*
2. Be Considerate - Simple acts of kindness help create good relations between neighbors. Watch where you park. Dont let your lawn get out of regulation. Keep the noise down. Take your trashcan back from the curb after trash day.
3. Remember that you live in a diverse community - Not everyone living in your community is going to be a student, or have a lifestyle similar to yours, please respect others' rights. Thank you for helping to create a respectful atmosphere!
Join the Community: Adopt a Neighbor
Would you like to help a neighbor-in-need prepare his or her yard for the winter months? CSU’s Off-Campus Life and the City of Fort Collins’ Neighborhood Services Office are working together to recruit volunteers for our annual fall cleanup project. Volunteers are needed to rake leaves, pick up litter, and trim bushes for homeowners around Fort Collins. The program benefits neighbors who have limited family support and no other means to do yard work. This is an excellent way to become involved in the community and meet new people. Click here for more information.
The cleanup project will take place on Saturday, November 7th from 10:00 am-1:00 pm (check-in at 9:30am). There will be a free lunch for volunteers!!
